The disappearing of honeybee colonies is poised to threaten more than 100 crops that puts food on our tables.
Over the past 50 years, the honeybee population in the U.S. has been cut in half, here are some causes: What is Happening to the Honey Bee?
The Varroa Mite- a tiny killer first detected in the U.S. in 1987, the mite attacks honeybee adults and larvae, wiping out a generation of young bees before they hatch.
Tracheal Mites- First spotted in the U.S. in 1984, tracheal mites attack the respiratory system of adult bees and can kill an entire hive in a matter of hours.
Pesticides- The wax in beehives is a natural sink for airborne toxins, and the relatively weak bee immune system is no match for such concentrations of man-made poisons.
What is being done?
a group of scientists in Spain claim to have isolated and treated the parasite, causing honey bee depopulation syndrome.

The Effect Of Temperature On Fast Plant(Brassica rapa) Growth:
The purpose of this experiment is to see if water temperature affects plant growth. We have nine plants to experiment with.
We test hot water on three plants, room temperature water on three plants, and cold water on three plants.
Our largest plant received cold water.
Hypothesis: Our groups hypothesis is that if plants receive cold water, then they will grow the most over the weeks we carry on this experiment.
Materials: The materials that our experiment will require are:
Hot water
Cold water
Room temperature water
9 plants
Ruler
Computer
Beaker
Pipe cleaners
Paper cups
Procedure:
we received trays where we would plant our seeds.
we filled the trays with about 2-3 inches of dirt.
we planted our seeds a few cm below the surface of the dirt.
we used paper cups to get water as well as a beaker which contained hot water.
we watered the plants, and waited a few days until the plants were big enough to measure.
In order to record data, we measure the plants height of the plant as well as the number of leaves on each plant, and the the number of open flowers.
